The CSF Mission
The Children’s Scholarship Fund aims to maximize educational opportunity at all income levels by offering tuition assistance for needy families and promoting a diverse and competitive educational environment.CSF History
The Children’s Scholarship Fund of Greater Cincinnati was founded in 1999 as an affiliate of the national Children’s Scholarship Fund headquartered in New York City. The national non-profit was created by philanthropists Ted Forstmann and the late John Walton to encourage freedom of school choice for low-income Americans. Since 1999, using more than $100 million of their own money, Mr. Forstmann and Mr. Walton have provided partial tuition scholarships for low-income children who without assistance would be denied freedom of school choice.CSF Cincinnati
Implementation of CSF Cincinnati was under the leadership of Durk Rorie who serves with Phil Heimlich as Co-chairs of the program. The Children’s Scholarship Fund of Greater Cincinnati has been providing privately funded(local and national) partial tuition scholarships to low-income families in the 9-county Greater Cincinnati area since our inception in 1999.
The guiding principal with the CSF Program is that if families are empowered with the ability to choose the best school for their children, their children’s academic performance will improve. The CSF Program is designed to have parents actively participate and have a stake in their child’s education.
giving parents a choice, giving children a chance
